The Heroic Tales of Malappuram

Vallathol Nararyana Menon

Mahakavi Vallathol Narayana Menon was born in Chennara, near Tirur in Malappuram district. Being the pioneer of khandakavya he contributed a fresh and unfamiliar scent to the world of Malayalam poetry. His writings fiercely flamed the national movement of India. Being contemporary to Asan and Ullur his period is the most aesthetic and creative in Malayalam literature. He is also famous for his contributions for Kathakali.

People around the globe are aware of Vallathol and his contributuions. But very few knows that he belongs to Malappuram. In Malappuram Thunchan Parambu is highly cared and maintained by the authorities. It is high time that measures must be taken for reviving and cherishing the memories of the past.
